Firsts

We all tend to live by the saying “live every day as your last” I read in a book that we shouldn’t actually say that! that lasts are tragic and we should instead live every day as our first since firsts are exciting and I couldn’t agree more! Imagine being told that you only have few days left to live… would you really laugh genuinely, would you be able to go to places or talk to people with enthusiasm? Would you boldly say that’s it?! That you did it all? that you laughed your hardest, helped others, enjoyed life, and loved yourself and others fully in your time here?  Now think of how exciting it is to do something, be somewhere or meet someone for the first time. Think of how each day would be a celebration and an accomplishment, think of how at the end of the day you’d be happy to recall how exciting and satisfying the day was, and think of how if that day was to actually be the last you’d smile and say oh I’ve definitely lived!  Lasts are indeed tragic and sometimes full ...

“ Life is a long lesson in humility ” James Barrie. Allow me to disagree with whoever said life is short. Imagine applying for a job and being told that you’ll get your answer after nine months, nine whole months! It’s a crazy long time to wait right?  I want us to see life in that way, from the nine months in our mother’s womb, the six months before we started to eat, the one year till we could make small steps, the years to teenage, the years to adulthood and the years to becoming old and having grey hair and to whatever time, be it hours, days, weeks or years till our last breath. Life is not short, nor is it long. It is just a purpose and the way we live up to it, the lessons we learn from it determines whether it was lived enough. From my favorite book that I like to quote, “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch, there are a lot of important lessons that I think if we valued and learnt them, when that day and time of our last breath comes, we would proudly say that our life was...

Sunsets and sunrises often give a confusing view, see this picture? It’s beautiful but again sad. The shadow parts of it gives somehow a somber mood while the brightest part of it gives an amber aura, lightening up the mood. Same thing as life, depending on your view on it, it can appear depressing or joyful but at the end of the day, it is a beautiful thing when you view it positively. In the morning series of Joel Osteen’s podcast I listen to, he said something that hit me and I felt like sharing it with you all. “ Be faithful in the wilderness so that you can enter into the promised land ” When things are going wrong, the door of blessings is about to open, there’s no shadow without a dim light, and it is true when people say that every storm shall pass. But the door won’t open itself, the shadows will remain if you keep blocking the light and the storm will take you if you don’t stand firm! Let the light come in, don’t be shaken by whatever is going on with your life, because if yo...

LOVE

They say distance gives a reason to love harder, but I say love should be a constant factor in our lives, one that doesn’t increase nor decrease because of distance, humps, times or anything else. 'The loving relationships we have, the universe around us, we take these things for granted.' Morrie  Schwartz .  We tend to think that the people in our lives are there because they should be there, that it’s how life should be but it’s not! The community we live in, the relationships and friendships we all got, they are what we choose and nurture, not an entitlement of life.  Sometimes we see the value of the people we have when they are gone, we write love words on our socials, dedicate songs, express our gratitude and love to the people that can no longer see it! Life is a circle of on and offs, let’s not keep the off switch going around for long. It is a circle of push and pull, let’s not push to achieve things and forget to pull love and people closer. May we not take what...

Nurturant

Image
The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey Are plants worthy than us? So why do we neglect ourselves and forget that the way we plant seeds and water them to grow into beautiful plants should also apply to us?! We need to nurture ourselves we are worth the work, the love, the care, and the beauty.  There’s more to life than what you’re going through, there’s more to that feeling of failure, there’s more to that loneliness, there’s more to that lost hope, there’s more to that fear that keeps you from moving forward, there’s more… and that more is one to celebrate for! Search your heart, search for the light that can pull you from those shadows, search for the water to water your potentials, search for the seeds that will sprout. Nurture yourself physically and take care of your body, let your heart bloom, and nurture your soul. Let’s live a nurturant life. Love and care for yourself fully, tend to your needs, garden th...

Sobs

Image
The unshed tears, the bottled up pain, the unexpressed thoughts, the hidden fears and every other things that we don’t let out results into a sobbing heart. A sobbing heart is a wounded heart, we need to heal! Don’t be ashamed to let your tears out. I agree that the most painful tears are the ones that don’t fall. Sometimes we battle with different hard times and remain composed at the outside with fake plastered smiles, while on the inside the heart is sobbing and in pieces. Tears are considered as a weakness but for me, they are the words our mouths can’t voice, they are the emotions our faces cannot express and mostly they are the cleansing that softens our heart. If only we could cry tears of joy, but life doesn’t owe us anything! so don’t wound your heart, cry, share your sobs if you can, but remember your tears are to bring clarity to see the good side of life and to water your strength to keep striving for better happy days. Not always will we be able to have someone whom ...

Gratitude

“ Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.” – Henry Ward Beecher I never rode a roller coaster but believe me when I tell you that this year has been like riding one! You scream out of fear, out of joy, get shocked and even cry sometimes, you literally experience all kinds of emotions… that’s how I think people riding roller coasters must feel, because that’s how my ride is! My life these past months has been a hella ride! and at some point along the ride, my head spun out of joy but also out of pain, the year got me into all kinds of emotions and I know it’s not only me, everyone got a ride of their own. Roller coasters experiences are not always good, and so do life’s! I’ve been reflecting on everything that happened throughout the year, and the only word I came up with was gratitude. Not because these 10months have been good nor that I am sure the remaining 2 will be great but because what I have, I gave nothing to deserve it. It is said that gratitude he...
