Impermanence

 





Everything is impermanent.





The sun rises but it eventually sets, people live and at a given time they die, one day you are rich but in an instant you can become poor. But why is it hard for us to comprehend the impermanence of things, why do we cling to things forgetting that at any moment they can fade away? WHY? 

If we knew the impermanence of things we’d be more appreciative of what matters the most. What even matters the most anyways? I don’t know! I just know that everybody knows deep down what’s important in his/her life but sometimes we choose to ignore it and cling to other things that are of less value forgetting that they can fade away. Money, fame, properties, and many other things tend to be at the top list of valuable things but they are impermanent! I’m not saying we don’t need them because we do, but how do we control them? No let me rephrase this, do we control them or they control us? Do we use them for a good cause or we let them control us? Life is the most precious gift the Lord gave us but as I said we don’t live forever! 

So let us be aware that things are impermanent and will help us avoid clinging to unnecessary things or taking what we have for granted. Since we all can’t agree on what is the most important, I thought taking Morrie Schwartz advice would do us good in life.

“The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to the community around you, and devote yourself to something that gives you purpose and meaning.”

LOVE, this is permanent so let us learn how to give it out and let it come in. And trust me true love is only from God so it is Him only who gives permanent things. Let us choose wisely and live a life of purpose.

Forgiveness

It is said that forgiveness is the greatest gift you can give yourself, but again, isn't it the hardest thing to do? But who said we shouldn't do hard things? Why should it be more easier to forgive others than ourselves?  We tend to think that forgiving ourselves is excusing our mistakes or forgetting the past, but it's not! When we forgive ourselves, we are just embracing our imperfect journey, we are acknowledging that we are humans, that we will stumble, that our mistakes don't define us, and that however much we may fall short, we are still worth of compassion, still worth of love, and that we deserve a fresh start. Firsts

We all tend to live by the saying “live every day as your last” I read in a book that we shouldn’t actually say that! that lasts are tragic and we should instead live every day as our first since firsts are exciting and I couldn’t agree more! Imagine being told that you only have few days left to live… would you really laugh genuinely, would you be able to go to places or talk to people with enthusiasm? Would you boldly say that’s it?! That you did it all? that you laughed your hardest, helped others, enjoyed life, and loved yourself and others fully in your time here?  Now think of how exciting it is to do something, be somewhere or meet someone for the first time.
